Diary dates week 6 term 3 2011 and homework

Hi everyone,
sorry the diary dates didn't go up yesterday as usual, unfortunately I was away. This week's homework will be once again a little different for Mathletics. Students have been participating in a Mathletics Challenge activity for today and tomorrow. Today we were looking at curriculum work. The more questions and activities each student does the higher the points they are. They are competing against other students from all over Australia. Each student was given a maths session amount of time today to use the laptops to do as many activities as they could. They are also allowed to access the program after school tonight to add more points to their scores.

Tomorrow is the Live Mathletics component of the competition. At the moment all the laptops are booked for other classes but I am trying to re-organise this so we can have a go at that part of the competition as well. Students once again will be able to access the challenge site tomorrow until 11pm.

Due to the competition this week I have encouraged students to try to complete as many activities as they can therefore there will be no set Mathletics work for the week.

Normal thinking activities, reading and spelling practice will continue as normal. This week's Speaking and Listening topic is "My favourite space book".

Diary dates:
MON: P.E
TUES: Mathletics competitions (Curriculum Work), P.E
WED: Mathletics competitions (Live Mathletics), library, homework due - reading at least 3 nights and thinking activity
THURS: Dancing 9:20-10:20 at local hall, year 5 faction jumps at school
FRI: Spelling and dictation test, tray check, table marble count, inschool dance performance

All students were given their photo envelopes last week to purchase school photos. Today they were also given a note about an incursion that will be happening on Friday this week.
