Hi everyone,
SPEAKING AND LISTENING
I have updated the Speaking and Listening page to include information showing focus explanations for each week, as well as the topics for each week.
Students will present their first debate topic in week three to a small group. They will be expected to have their palm cards ready on the day.
TIMES TABLES
This week our class also participated in some timed times tables tests. These are the same tests that we completed in term one. For each test students were given 2 minutes to try and answer 60 questions about a specific times table.
A note will be coming home this week showing which tables your child improved in and which they need extra attention in. By the end of year five it is very important all students are competent with all times tables, therefore I have also noted down the times tables your child needs to be practising to help improve their scores by the end of the year.
Times tables is something that students should be practising all the time, not only as part of their homework. There is a tab up the top on this blog that explains strategies and games students can use to help improve their times tables results. As a class we will be having a very strong focus on times tables this term so please ensure you are helping your child at home as well so we can work together.
SPELLING
By Monday or Tuesday of this week I will also have the spelling tab up to date with spelling words for term four. We didn't have spelling words to practice over the past week due to the spelling bee preparations.
END OF THE YEAR
If you are planning an early end of year holiday with your child please let the school know as soon as you confirm your holiday dates as we need to be aware if your child will be away when reports go out or for the collection of their belongings, etc. Please contact either the office or myself if you already know your child will not be here for the last week of school.
