Remembrance Day - What's the difference?

This Friday our school will be having a minute of silence at 11am for Rememberance Day.

Earlier this year we completed a whole topic on ANZAC Day. As part of students projects they had to explain the difference between ANZAC and Rememberance Day.

ANZAC Day is on 25th April and is a national day in Australia and New Zealand for the soldiers we lost in the war from our Army. We usually have a dawn service, wear rosmary and lay wreaths.

Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy Day) is on 11th November. We have a minute of silence at 11am which symbolises the end of WWI on that date in 1918. All commonwealth countries celebrate Remembrance Day. People usually wear a poppy.
